The Mayor and Town Council have declared the week of September 24th to October 2nd as “Diaper Need Awareness Week” in the Town of Marana.
They issued a proclamation to raise awareness about the need for diapers in our community.
The proclamation states that national surveys and research studies report one in three families struggle with diaper needs and 48 percent delay changing a diaper to extend their supply. Children go through six to 12 diapers each day during the two to three years they are in diapers.
There are organizations dedicated to helping families in Marana to address this need including the Diaper Bank of Central Arizona and Diaper Bank of Southern Arizona. These organizations continue to help despite the many challenges and increased demand for diapers from the pandemic and economic shutdown.
The Town of Marana would like to recognize and thank these diaper banks, their staff, volunteers and donors for their service to the community.
The Diaper Bank of Southern Arizona hosts a “Dancing with Our Stars” event every year to raise money for families in need. Learn more about the 2022 fundraiser here.
