Arizona Football punter Kyle Ostendorp has been named Preseason Second-Team All-American by The Sporting News.
Ostendorp was fourth in the nation in average punt distance (49.2), leading the Pac-12 in that category last season. He uncorked his longest punt of the season, 71 yards against San Diego State on Sept. 11, and punted for 2,852 total yards on his way to 2021 All-Pac-12 First Team honors.
Following his sophomore season, Ostendorp was Arizona's first punter to be named first-team All-Pac-12 since Keenyn Crier in 2007. He was named first-team All-Pac-12 by the Associated Press after setting an Arizona record and leading the Pac-12 with his punt average last season. He recorded a conference-best 28 punts that traveled 50-plus yards and downed 17 inside the 20.
Ostendorp is a standout in the classroom after earning Valedictorian of the 2022 graduating class. He and the Wildcats open the 2022 season on Sept. 3 at San Diego State. Arizona's home opener falls on Sept. 10 against Mississippi State with kickoff at Arizona Stadium set for 8 p.m.
