UPDATED: Travel improvements at Twin Peaks Road and Sandario Road Intersection this summer

Construction

The Town of Marana is proposing new travel improvements to the Twin Peaks Road and Sandario Road intersection that would result in a new traffic circle.

UPDATED MAY 11, 2022 - The Town of Marana evaluated many intersection improvements while studying the Twin Peaks Sandario intersection. The roundabout option was selected due to increased safety and efficiency and lower construction and operating cost. Additional information and educational videos can be found through the Federal Highway Administration.

A roundabout is anticipated to improve safety, promote lower speeds, and reduce conflict points. Studies show that there is a dramatic reduction in fatal and severe injury crashes versus a traditional intersection. Motorists are advised to slow down, look around, and be ready to yield.

Construction is tentatively scheduled for June-July 2022, and would close down certain travel corridors along Twin Peaks Road and Sandario Road. Regional traffic to Marana High School, area schools, and neighborhoods will be impacted during construction. Please plan alternate routes during construction.

A traffic alert with the official schedule will be released over the next few weeks.

Please view the map below for the impacted area. Red indicates closed roads. Green indicates proposed alternate routes.
