Town of Oro Valley announces road surface treatment schedule

The Town of Oro Valley announced the schedule for fog seal surface treatments on five Oro Valley roadways. The roadwork will start on April 18 and continue through the end of the month, between 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. or during overnight hours (weather permitting). Fog seal is a pavement preservation technique that extends the life of the pavement by using diluted asphalt to seal narrow cracks and improve the surface appearance.

During the treatment, traffic lanes will be reduced in each direction. Traffic flaggers and Oro Valley Police will be onsite to direct drivers. Speed will also be reduced. Drivers are asked to slow down, follow signs and obey traffic control. Message boards will be placed ahead of the construction zone to alert drivers.

Outside of the scheduled construction hours, traffic will return to normal with all lanes open.

Following the fog seal treatment, crews will mark the pavement starting May 9. During this work, traffic lanes and speed will be reduced. Like the fog treatment, there will be signs and directions for drivers to follow.

The construction schedule is as follows:

April 18 to 21 (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.)

  • La Cholla Boulevard from Owl Head Place to Tangerine Road
April 22 (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.)

  • Northern Avenue from Cool Drive to Magee Road
  • Lambert Lane from Rancho Sonora Drive to La Cañada Drive
April 25 to 28 (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.)

  • Calle Concordia from La Cañada Drive to Overlook Drive
Late April, dates to be announced (overnight work)

  • Calle Concordia from Overlook Dr to Oracle Road
  • Ina Road from Paseo del Norte to Oracle Road
