Wildlife, Nature & Fine Art Photography
James Capo is an award-winning nature photographer, and a 20-year resident of Oro Valley. He loves to share the beauty, majesty and wonder of the great outdoors in his photographic work. James is glad to call Southern Arizona home, where he captures images of the varied landscapes and abundant wildlife in this ecologically diverse and beautiful environment. But he also travels widely, and has aimed his lens at the fauna and natural wonders of lands from Alaska to Africa and Australia.
James earned his degree in journalism and photojournalism at the State University of N.Y., and shot news, sports and travel photography while always maintaining his love of nature photography. He worked his way through a second degree in Theology as a writer /photographer for various publications. Upon receiving his B.A. in Theology in 1981, he was asked to serve full time in the ministry, and that has been his primary career ever since.
He has been fortunate, though, to continue his passion for photography and the outdoors, becoming a certified Rock Climbing Instructor and Guide, a Youth Camp Director, and the director of challenge programs for Young Adults, focused on mentoring and leadership development through outdoor adventure activities.
James’ wildlife images have been selected as part of the Healing Art program, on display at the Tucson Medical Center, and are featured regularly in the “Wonders of God’s Creation” column for Discern magazine.
Information about the images on display is available on request at the circulation desk.
