Description:
In this presentation, spring Writer-in-Residence Wynne Brown will reveal the trail, the techniques, and the tribulations she encountered as she discovered the life and work of this remarkable 1880s botanist and artist.
Her book, The Forgotten Botanist: Sara Plummer Lemmon’s Life of Science and Art was published by the University of Nebraska Press in November 2021 and selected as a Top Pick among the Southwest Books of the Year.
Wynne Brown (website: https://wynnebrown.com/) is a freelance writer, editor, and graphic designer who describes herself as a "one-stop pre-publication shop." She is the author of four books, many newspaper and magazine articles, and has written on a wide variety of topics, including science, health, history, trails, environmental issues, horses, travel, the Southwest, and more.
Her most recent book is The Forgotten Botanist: Sara Plummer Lemmon’s Life of Science and Art, the account of an extraordinary woman who, in 1870, was driven by ill health to leave the East Coast for a new life in the West—alone.
