Eighth Annual Hot Cocoa 5K Run/Walk on January 1, 2022

Town of Oro Valley recently issued the following announcement.

Date: January 1, 2022, 11:22 a.m.

Location: Steam Pump Ranch, 10901 N. Oracle Rd.

Join the Town of Oro Valley as we kick off 2022 with the eighth annual Cocoa 5k run/walk on Saturday, January 1! The race will take place along the multi-use path, beginning at Steam Pump Ranch, and will include snacks, water and of course, hot cocoa. This is a professionally-timed race, and prizes will be awarded to the overall male and female winners and five-year age group categories. It's a fun way to start your New Year's resolutions with the entire family.

All entrants will receive gloves with the race logo. Children 12 and under race for free with paying adult. Proceeds will benefit Oro Valley’s Round Up for Youth Recreation Scholarship Program.

Pre-race day number pickup & registration will be on Wednesday, December 29 from 5 - 7 pm at the Oro Valley Community Center, 10555 N. La Canada Drive, Oro Valley, AZ 85737. Race day number pickup and registration will be available starting at 9:30 a.m. at Steam Pump Ranch.

The Cheers Challenge is back!  Complete the 10k or 5k at the Marana Egg Nog Jog (held Friday, December 31 at 9:30 am) and the Hot Cocoa 5k on January 1 in Oro Valley and receive a custom medal.  For info on the Egg Nog jog, visit https://runsignup.com/Race/Info/AZ/Marana/MaranaEggNogJog.

Be sure to visit the Oro Valley Farmer's Market on-site before and after the race!  The Farmer's Market will be open from 9 am - 1 pm on race day with produce and products from a variety of local vendors.

New!  The Town is partnering with the nonprofit Impact of Southern Arizona to collect:

  • Used athletic shoes for men/women/children – running shoes, court shoes, etc.
  • New socks
We will have a drop box the day of the race at the Ranch as well as during race number pickup at the Community Center.
