Pima County and the City of Tucson are urging local residents to stay the course and not shy away from COVID-19 cautions late in the game.

Tucson Mayor Regina Romero recently joined Ramón Valadez, Pima County Board of Supervisors chair, in a joint statement encouraging people to continue to exercise caution during the fall event season.

“Our community, along with the rest of the nation, continues to confront the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. It remains a serious public health emergency to all of us and we have yet to see how the virus will respond to lower temperatures during the fall and winter months,” the statement reads. “Just like you – we are eager to resume the activities and celebrations that we all look forward to this time of the year, but we must do so sensibly and safely."

The Pima County Health Department is developing guidance for seasonal events and organizers are encouraged to consider the best way to conduct their events to minimize the potential for COVID-19 transmission, the statement said.
