Pima County's fiscal year 2021 budget was adopted and includes millions for road repair and cuts the county's tax rate, according to a press release from the county.
The $1.42 billion budget, which has more than $65 million from the CARES Act, sets aside over $55 million for road repair, according to the press release. It also will cut the county property tax rate by 4.5%.
Any residents with a median assessed home would see approximately a $38 decrease in property taxes, which is based off of a $154,000 home.
This year's budget was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and had to account for $70 million in a budget shortfall, which was handled through cutting back personnel expense by 3%, reducing overtime and cutting back on department expenses by 5% and pausing $15 million in facility maintenance, according to the county press release.
The budget also reduces the primary property tax rate by seven cents, reduce the bond repayment tax by 17 cents and approved a budget for the Stadium District.
