The Board of Barbers paid an average compensation of $46,875 during 2018, according to data compiled by The Arizona Republic. Arizona public employees as a whole averaged 27 percent more with a compensation of $59,597. Total compensation is made up of an employee's annual salary with the addition of any overtime pay earned throughout the year.

The highest-paid public employee working for the Board of Barbers—Samuel Barcelona—earned $60,000 as the director.

When calculating average compensation, only employees categorized as full time were included.
