Restaurant regulations were approved by the Pima County Board of Supervisors, which will help restaurants in the county reopen, but one board member warned the regulations are worthless.
“Until we get a determination from the state attorney general, all of this means nothing,” Supervisor Steve Christy said during the meeting, according to Green Valley News.
Christy's opposition didn't prevent other board members from approving 15 regulations for restaurants.
Christy and Supervisor Ally Miller voted against the regulations, because they violate Gov. Doug Ducey's May 16 Executive Order. Ducey's order prohibits other restrictions being imposed upon businesses.
“The guidance that the CDC and White House have given the state of Arizona was that we could go county by county or statewide,” Ducey told a reporter in response to Pima County approving the regulations. “The guidance that we have put out is statewide, and that’s what we expect municipalities to follow. Those are the guidelines.”
