Advocates for the Fox Tucson Theatre, which is located in downtown Tucson, are working diligently to guarantee that it will continue to shine after the COVID-19 crisis.
According to Tucson.com, over the past nine decades, the theatre has gained a reputation as the "crown jewel" of downtown.
Michael Heisler, who is the president of the board of directors at the Fox Tucson Theatre, said officials are trying to pin down "the new normal" since the coronavirus has changed what was considered "normal" at the close of 2019.
“We are trying to understand what the new normal might look like and adjusting our performances and looking at other opportunities to build community while continuing to make the Fox the ‘crown jewel’ of downtown,” Heisler told Tucson.com.
Heisler said it is imperative that people understand the negative impact that the coronavirus crisis has caused.
“It is critical that people fully understand the impact of the coronavirus on the performing arts community of Tucson as well as the Fox Tucson Theatre. In order for us to continue, it is imperative that the community rally around performing arts centers and understand their cultural importance to Tucson and Southern Arizona,” Heisler told Tucson.com.
