The Pima Community College (PCC) is sending close to $5 million in emergency federal aid to all the students who apply for relief, according to Tucson.com.
The federal government has granted the college with $9.9 million in Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act funds. The college said half of the aid will go to its students. According to a PCC news release, the students receiving the honors will be alerted by email.
The aid that is given to students will be based on the number of credit hours the student has accumulated. The college said the aid will range between $400 and $1,000.
The rest of the aid will be used for institutional expenses during the COVID-19 crisis, PCC officials say.
To qualify, the students must complete their free application for Federal Student Aid.
Students can continue to apply through June 30 to be considered. The students may also be eligible for any remaining Higher Education Emergency Relief Funds. Students can learn more by emailing the virtual support address provided by the college at virtualsupport@pima.edu.
