Ally Miller announces she is not seeking re-election for District 1 seat

Vote13

Veteran Pima County Supervisor Ally Miller recently announced she will not be seeking re-election in 2020.

“After giving it much consideration, I have decided that it is time to retire and move on to another phase of my life,” Miller, who has served since 2012, recently announced on social media.

During her almost eight years on the board, Miller earned a reputation for having a voice all of her own, clashing with fellow supervisors, other lawmakers and members of the media on several fronts, according to Marana News.

Miller’s announcement has caught many off guard, including Republican Oro Valley Councilwoman Rhonda Piña, who is now seeking to replace her.

“I’m a native of Pima County and have an interest in ensuring the county as a whole is a good place to live,” she said. “The other thing that’s important is I believe I bring business and political experience that can address district and county needs.”

Piña was elected to the Oro Valley council in 2016.
