Northern Arizona University issued the following announcement on Oct. 24
Northern Arizona University’s Family Violence Institute (FVI) and NAUPD are co-sponsoring a gift drive for children who have lost a parent to intimate partner homicide. The goal is to supply those victims–who range in age from 5 to 21 years old–with gift baskets and board games for the coming holiday. Donations are encouraged and accepted in the form of family-oriented board games.
FVI is a pioneer of social work programs in Arizona. Their most unique program, the Arizona Child and Adolescent Survivor Initiative (ACASI), provides a variety of services to people throughout the state, including crisis counseling, peer support, on-going case management and victims’ rights information. With a mission to deliver a multi-county, trauma-informed system of care to provide specialized victim services and support to children who have lost a parent to intimate partner homicide, ACASI hopes this gift drive can bring some cheer to youth this holiday season.
Donations will be accepted until Nov. 27. To donate a board game, staff, students and faculty can use the donation boxes located at the NAUPD office on campus. For more information, contact ACASI at (928) 523-9112 or NAUPD’s non-emergency number at (928) 523-3611.
