Description
Artist's Statement:
A camera captures the exactness of a moment. Everything as it appears. In our memories, things are a little fuzzier. We have glimpses of images that may change or alter as they pop in and out of our minds. Our dreaming is the same. The recollection of images is a part of the original whole. It's a partial glimpse, and that is what my painting is for me. It's the mystery in an image … a glimpse of a moment. It may not necessarily be focused or clear, or may even be distorted. It is not a photograph. It is sometimes even an emotion felt at the time of painting that somehow appears on the canvas or paper. A glimpse into a fracture of time that won't happen or may never be seen ever again in the same exact way. It is not perfect, nor could it be. Our memories, our dreams and our emotions are not perfect. They are what they are when seen at a specific moment in time. When painting, my mind and emotions transfer an image that I see at that one time and place. They are a mystery…perhaps perfection themselves for having been recollected.
